Crabs for dinner

I am not what you call a sea food person... somehow i just dont like sea food.... i just dont... i remember only one time when i had liked fish... i think fresh water salmon made with some caramel or sth.... that was not very 'fishy' and nice.... but save that one time i have never liked fish/sea food.... so although i was keen on going to this really 'famous for crabs' place i had been able to avoid it till now (obviously unintentionally ;-) ) but this sunday i finally went there....
to be very frank i didn't like the crab anymore than i like fish (save that fresh water caramel salmon) but i liked the whole experience... the ambience was too good (by sea side with nice wind blowing; many ships in the sea; which meant twinkling lights in the distance, and a violent sea which meant the sound of waves hitting the shore just like good music) not to miss the experience of eating something with nut crackers and that stapula kinda thing....a few days ago i had repaired my hand phone with less instruments than used to eat that crab!!
i had never had a crab or a lobster before.... this was a first for me.... first also in the sense that i dont remember eating with dirtying my hands that much in the recent (and also not so recent) past...
another thing to that place's credit it; it has no service charge unlike all other eating places here!!
overall a good evening... although i dont know if i will go back to that place.... may be for a lobster sometime....

unrelated comment: there was another sea food place nearby... their punch line "if it swims , we have it"

hmmm...having a boring day at work...with a sweet weather outside.....thought of reading more of your posts....i found this one intresting. Like you i never liked sea food until recently...when i went with my project lead to one of the famous sea food area in Cali. It was a good experience....had crabs well crab cakes precisely...the funny part is well we went to a sea food restaurant and in a very welcoming and polite voice the server gave me the menu...and immediately digged in to look for a chicken or veg..entrees...funny of me to look for chicken in sea food specialized joint...BUT AHAA! they did have one item in chicken...as if it was placed spl for me....and i thanked lord for serving chicken, well the owner actually after God...but everyone else insisted me to order sea food as chicked wont be good here....the server came to us after abt 5 mins and asked individually as what we wud like to eat....in a very stumbling and mumbling voice i said crab cakes....in my mind i was thinking plz God make him hear chicken cake or he writes chicken cake in palm top secret notepad OS. i fugured out that indeed the server was efficient and hardworking as when he repeated the order, my order was secure and written clearly...
As i was waiting for the food i was looking over at other diner's plate and was looking how can they eat such beautiful sea creatures.....no offense for chicken or animals living on earth...but you have to admire that most colorful creatures are in sea......well leave that in the end they all are killed for human feast and pleasure....
hmmmm...my dinner has arrived...with a steady arm and in an artistic way my meal is placed before me.....and i see 2 big crab cakes....with some rice on side and some nice green vegetation with a eye catching layer of some sauce all over the plate....My stomach pleading me do u really want to do this......
Well to my surprise the food was really good....i liked the crab cakes....satisfied with the content i asked everyone what makes sea food so attractive....then notes of wisdom started pouring from everycorner of the table....but the important aspect abt sea food which i still remember is......FRESHNESS....hmmm....yes...the fresher the seafood is the more tasty it is....a frozen seafood tastes differently.....and it smells a lot even after cooked nicely....the reasons of not eating frozen sea food i'll tell later but for now the mool mantar is if sea food smells one thing can be sure it wont taste good.....Happy munching.....Peace......
